1. My Yahoo! status does not change for all IDs under multi-messenger mode

My Yahoo! status does not change for all IDs under multi-messenger mode

Multimessenger support was added starting with version 0.9.0 of the plugin. Make sure you have the latest version, after which configure the plugin's options. Previous versions of this plugin were designed to work only with one single instance of Yahoo! Messenger running.

HyperIM status is not shown in Yahoo! Messenger's status area

• Is the plugin enabled in HyperIM?
  You have not enabled the Yahoo! Messenger status plugin from HyperIM's plugins list. Tick the checkboxes for this plugin in the Enable status for and Enable macros from plugin panels, and then try again.
• Bad plugin settings
  Open the settings dialog of this plugin (double click its name) and make sure that either:
  • Work under multi-messenger compatibility is unchecked
  • the text box below the above option is not empty
  If that option is checked and the text box is empty then your YM status will always be undefined. It is obvious that you should not enable that setting unless you usually use more than one YM instance, in which case you must specify all the used IDs in that textbox, separated by a space.

My Yahoo! Messenger status not showing up to other people

• You have an URL in your status
  Somewhere in December 2006 Yahoo! did some changes to their servers. It seems that status messages which contain specific URL addresses inside them are not being sent to your list contacts at all. There are also reports that some other status text patterns are being rejected as well. This is a issue with Yahoo!'s messenger servers.
• Status was changed very often in a short period of time
  Yahoo! Messenger will block any further status messages from your account, if too many status changes occured during a given time. This is to avoid flooding attempts towards your contact list accounts. You'll need to wait some time (1 hour, less or more) before your statuses will be working again. You should not try to refresh your status during this time, as it will only increase the period. There are reports that completely uninstalling Yahoo! Messenger, also wiping the registry entries, and reinstalling it, might do the trick also. You may want to use a status that changes less frequently. There are many ways to do this.
• Status is still not being received
  The only possible reasons the status is not being sent, even if it appears in the status area, are:
  • You have a very slow internet connection, or the connection to Yahoo servers is lost
  • You are using some other 3rd party software, such as a firewall, or Yahoo! Messenger tunnel (Y!Tunnel, YTK Pro...) which may filter/block the data sent/received between YM and the internet.
  • Your status was received by the Yahoo! servers but for some reason it was not dispatched to your contacts. Recently some changes in Yahoo's servers block statuses which contain specific parts, such as some URLs, and other blocked words.
  Please note that HyperIM only sends data to the Yahoo! Messenger application. What happens after that is not in HyperIM's control in any kind of way.

Can I set an Idle status with a predefined idle time? Why does it start from 1 minute?

No, this is not possible. On each NEW status, Idle will always start from 0 seconds (YM 8.0 and later rounds up to minutes, so it will show 1 minute even when there are under 60 seconds).

Why does Idle time not increasing on my Yahoo! status?

When a new status is set, Idle time resets to zero seconds and increases. To make Idle time increase, use a static, constant status together with the fake idle feature. There's no way to keep total idle time from one status change to the next one.

When I leave my PC with fake Idle and get back, it resets to 0 again.

This is because the true Idle will be activated by YM and will reset when it really ends (eg you move your mouse). The solution is to disable the "Show me as Idle" option inside Yahoo! Messenger, or at least to put it to a very high value (more than the time you will not be using the PC).

Why can't I put a link in the status together with a status icon?

You can't use a link with headphones (or other icons other then Busy or Idle) because Yahoo! Messenger will show the arrow symbol for the link, ignoring the special icon. This is a matter of priorities in the Yahoo! Messenger software.

The green Plugin icon doesn not appear even if /y:p is used

The plugin icon will only appear to people who use Yahoo! Messenger 8.0 or newer. It is *not* visible in Yahoo! Messenger 7.5 or older. However you can use an older Yahoo! Messenger version and set the plugin icon. You will not see it, but people who can will see it.

Can you add fake mobile icon for Yahoo! Messenger?

No. You are invited to prove I'm wrong. That kind of status is sent directly by Yahoo!'s servers, while HyperIM only changes the status using your Yahoo! Messenger client on your PC, which is most probably not capable of sending that kind of status.

Can you add the fake Blog/360 star icon for the YM status?

No. That is not a regular status icon and is not related to the user's status.

How do I change the status text color in Yahoo! Messenger?

The only way to change the text color is to put a link inside, to make it blue.

Can I have my status to scroll?

A scrolling status is one of the most common reasons for status blocking. Because of this, HyperIM does not directly support status scrolling. Instead, you might want to try using a text file, and play with the File lines plugin. Good luck.
