Here's all you need to know about the Y! Bot plugin for HyperIM. This plugin can respond to both normal incoming messages as well as BUZZ!!!-es, generate completely dynamic and customised replies on both Group and specific ID levels, automatically import all your YM contacts, close or not close the IM windows, or minimize it, respond only if you are Busy, and this is just a glance!
You need HyperIM and Yahoo! Messenger version 6.0 or newer (up to version 8.0). The Y! Robot plugin needs to be installed and running (it is included in the installation). If everything is ok the plugin name will appear in the "Other plugins" list in HyperIM's expanded main window. The robot will only be active while the plugin is activated (the box before its name is checked).
Double-click the plugin name and the configuration window for the auto-replies will appear. From here you can modify and create answers. Each answer consists of the list of IDs to which that answer is addressed, the two possible answers, and a few options like whether the answer is active or not etc.
You can create a random answer together with the File lines plugin and the %file1% ... %file4% macros. Configure that plugin to change the macros in random mode and you're done. Remember that in HyperIM macros can be nested, one inside another, up to 8 levels deep, so you can create a text file which contains any kind of other macros on each line :)
Make sure the plugin is enabled (checkmark before its name) and that you correctly configured it. That means that the <DEFAULT> group doesn't have the "Don't answer to this" option enabled, or else that the sender's ID is part of an answer that is also enabled.
No, you can't. But you can set the robot to automatically close the window after it sent an answer, so it will respond again on next reply.
Yes. Just click the "Import from YM" button inside the configuration window and it will create all your YM groups with all the Yahoo! IDs from your Yahoo! Messenger. You must be logged in to YM when doing this.
Yes. There is a hidden macro which you can use inside a response's text to make that alert not to be sent for that answer.
YES. This is coolest thing actually. You can use any kind of possible macro provided by HyperIM, so the answer is actually dynamic. There are also a couple of macros related to the specific answer, one for the contact ID and another for the contact's name. You can use these to generate customised replies, even if that answer is addressed to more than one ID.
The configuration window shows in the bottom all the existent Yahoo! Messenger format codes. If you are familiar with HTML they will not be so hard to use, even though some of them are proprietary YM tags.
Currently this is not possible. If you are interested in developing an AI module that can interact with the Y! Robot plugin please use our forums.
