This is just a help page. For a general description of this plugin, click here.
In order to make things work you have to first turn on the "What I'm listening to" feature in your messenger. This just opens a door to setting statuses from external applications, like HyperIM or Windows Media Player.
Enabling the MSN Messenger Status plugin will make HyperIM send new statuses to your messenger:
The trick is that Windows Media Player has a plugin, developed by Microsoft, that does the status changing.
HyperIM provides it's own WMP plugin also. So you should make sure to disable the MSN/WLM plugin provided by WMP and to leave enabled the HyperIM bridge plugin. To do that Choose from WMP's menu Tools -> Plug-ins -> Options... and make sure to have something like this:
You can show your MSN status with one of the three icons available: Music icon, Office icon, and Games icon. To enable them, make sure you enable the MSN Messenger status plugin inside the Macros plugins list. You choose the desired icon directly from your status, using empty macros. You can view the macro names from the usual macro menu. There are also examples of usage on the main page of this plugin (see the right table there)
Make sure that the MSN Messenger status plugin is enabled (has a checkmark) in HyperIM, both under the Enable status for and the Enable macros from plugins lists. More than that, be sure that you've enabled the "Show what I'm listening to" option in your WLM, like this:
This is not currently possible. There are ways in which it could be done, but they are too ugly hacks and you wouldn't like them. The default status icon that the plugin will use is the headphones icon
