This thread is meant to contain discussions regarding version 4.7 of the native Winamp plugin for Yahoo! Messenger 10.0, 9.0 or older.

I intend to publish this plugin on winamp.com, so please test this plugin as much as you can, because once the plugin is published on Winamp's site, it seems that it stays that way for good; so the obvious purpose is to publish a bug-free plugin, so that I don't end up in the same situation like last year, when I had no choice other to remove the plugin from their site, as updating the file was impossible

Below is a comparison chart between my 'Yahoo! Messenger Now Playing' plugin and Y!Amp 9.8. I tried my best to keep it objective, but still the results are obvious. The only conclusion I came up with is that Y!Amp is still so successful because it SPAMs itself in your status after it is closed, open, and... oh well most of the time.

Besides this spaming, the author had another ideea to increase the popularity of Y!Amp : he translated the Y!Amp page into Romanian, and let the visitors choose between English (basic language) and Romanian (becaused he was aware of the big number of romanians that visited the page and downloaded his application). So, I think that by doing the same thing to the page of Y!M Plugin for Winamp, the plugin will grow in popularity and will stop a lot of people using the Y!Amp piece of crap Was just an opinion...

random problem : I don't say that with the latest Y!Amp back when I used Mess 7 (now I use 9) I didn't have this problem...it just didn't occur so frequently: Sometimes the plugin remains "stuck" at a song,and my status won't change in anything after that...Sometimes I have to exit (not just log off my account) the program just because of this...I wanna know if there is some fix for this or can we expect newer versions of "Yahoo now playing" plugin in the near future ?

Test if this happens when you play songs that have web links in their title. Yahoo! blocks your status if you display a web link.

this doesnt work for me.. It says on my status that it is the song title but Its nothing for my status i have winamp 9 beta. And it worked for a few minutes on 8.1 but now it stopped and wont work anymore?

Nice work with this plugin, but how about turning off the spamming text in the status (that annoying "[powered by numedecod.ro]" text) ? 
With Y!amp at least i knew that it had some specific triggers for showing their link in the status, but your plugin, that you speak so highly of it, spams my status message constantly. Almost every time open my Yahoo Messenger list window i see that text shown in my status. With Y!Amp I had some control over that spamming process (knowing the triggers), but with this plugin it seems that I don't.

Can it really be called spam? Let's see what we have:

1) There's no actual link
2) It doesn't stick in the status after you close Winamp, or before you start playing a song
3) It's just appended at the end of the status, not replacing it
4) You have a very extreme notion about "Almost every time". It's exactly every 32 out of 128 seconds, which means 25% of "all the time" (this assumes you didn't just paused Winamp)
5) It's only spam if you didn't opt' in for it. Nobody collected your ID, and you were well informed about it, and still used it.
6) Just like watching TV, you can always change the channel if you don't like the commercials.

Check out the latest version. It will now no longer attach any additional text to your status.

Thank you very much... It was a good choice to remove those string. I'm pretty sure (and I've seen it) that a lot of people that are using this plugin or HyperIM advertise it by putting a link in the status.

I am running YM v. 9.0.0.797 BETA (from Registry) and Winamp 5.52. I installed the plugin and it seems it doesn't work. I get the 80004005 error message (error setting YM status). If I deselect the "Show headphones icon" in the plugin config, I get no error, but also no status message in YM.

I have also installed the latest YM version (9.0.0.922 BETA) and I still have the same problem.. Hope this helps...
